Financial Education for Youth
What problem would you like to solve?
Young adults do not know much about finances, or how to file their taxes
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
It is important to begin adulthood with good credit, starting to save, and understand how to do your taxes and why it is important
What idea do you have to address the problem?
After-school classes for 16-18 year olds to learn basic financial education before they graduate high school and move out on their own. They should learn how to build and maintain good credit, how to open and maintain a savings account and how and why to file taxes. Consideration should also be given to other topics like building a retirement account, investments, and life insurance.
Who would that help?
High schoolers, 16-18 year olds
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Queens
