    What problem would you like to solve?

    The huge Lack of understanding of the deaf/hard of hearing community. Lack of people who understand ASL or lack of programs, services, events that have ASL

    Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

    People who have disabilities that require American sign language (ASL) don't always have the ability to communicate with their peers because of the lack of understanding and knowledge of the difference in languages. This leaves them isolated and alone. No one wants to feel left out, no one wants to feel like they are not thought of. No one wants to feel like they are not important which is why there is not ASL at a huge event that they can now not participate in. They are members of our community and deserve to engage in all within our community !

    What idea do you have to address the problem?

    Provide funding to schools to make ASL classes a part of the curriculum. Educate K-12 in ASL.

    Who would that help?

    People with auditory disabilities and peers without disabilities to communicate with their friends and out in the community when needed. Add skillsets to all youth and create more inclusive communicators.

    What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    All boroughs could truly benefit from this
