The People's Money (2022-2023)
Your Money, Your Community, Your Voice.
North and South Shore Dialogue Sessions
Developed by Harriet Tubman Society of the Purple Hats
What problem would you like to solve?
Disparity and distrust between the neighborhoods on the North and South Shores of Staten Island
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Staten Island is growing, and is known for its North and South Shore divide when it comes to voting preferences. There is a divide between the island's North and South shore residents, wit many feeling uncomfortable in each other's neighborhoods.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
A series of discussions, seminars, and presentations will be scheduled and advertised for island residents to share their experiences when in other neighborhoods. The goal would be to identify any issues that residents can work on to bring them closer together, or to assure residents of other neighborhoods that they are always welcome. Another goal would be to identify and fund projects that could bring the north and south shores closer together. These discussions will culminate in an event celebrating the North and South shores of Staten Island coming together.
Who would that help?
All of Staten Island
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Staten Island
