What problem would you like to solve?
Many people do not have a basic sense of financial literacy. We can teach teenagers in the Bronx what they need to know now before they get into debt or run into avoidable problems related to personal finances.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
The Bronx is home to the poorest congressional district in the nation. Anything that can help lift people out of that state is a good thing. Financial literacy programs can start to fill that need one child at a time.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
A program is needed to teach teenagers about personal finances. The target age would be 11 to 15, but open to widening that age range. This is especially important for immigrant children whose parents need their help in areas such as finance where the parent might face a language barrier, or in cases where a parent simply never learned about finances.
Who would that help?
Teenagers age 11 to 15 and their families.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Bronx
