Schools already have Meatless Mondays, but this will shift attention to positive healthy delicious food - not just cutting meat out, but bringing other food in. Some schools such as PS 139 have already been doing this on their own, but this would turn it into a better resourced pilot program, one that the new mayor could potentially expand.Many communities in our district lack adequate access to affordable, healthy food. If students don't have the opportunity to eat much fresh produce, this can shape their tastes and eating habits for a lifetime.
