HOW TO VOTE:
- If you’re 11 and older and live, work or go to school in one of the 33 neighborhoods hardest hit by COVID-19, you can vote on which project you want for your neighborhood. If you’re not sure whether you qualify, please check this page (External link) for a list of the neighborhoods. You can only vote in one neighborhood, and you can only vote once.
- To vote securely and privately, you need to sign in with an existing account or create an NYC ID account, if you do not already have one. Creating an account is quick and safe, and it protects your vote. Create one here! (External link) (You may use the same ID you use for City services such as Fair Fares, SNAP or afterschool programs, or another ID such as Yahoo, Gmail, Apple, Facebook etc). Once you set up an account, you will belong to an online community of New Yorkers who want their voice heard! And you’ll be able participate in future votes!
- Once you sign in, select your neighborhood from the list below, and click on the vote button! Check off at least one project that you want to see funded in your neighborhood.

We are open & taking calls during regular business hours (Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm). If we miss your call, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Youth Conference
Scope: East Harlem
Budget: $40,000
Youth residents of East Harlem host a conference to explore the challenges facing the community from their perspective. This conference will be created, hosted, and directed by youth from the community, ensuring that while no voices are excluded, the voice of East Harlem’s youth is assuredly heard.

Photovoice: Photography for East Harlem Youth
Scope: East Harlem
Budget: $40,000
In order to truly allow for youth and community voices to be heard (and seen), this project proposes to arm participants with training and guidance on using photography to document the environment in which they live. The project will culminate in an exhibition (that can be moved and taken for display in multiple locations) and will aim to shine a light on the future possibilities of a more equitable East Harlem. Finally, the exhibition will be the impetus for future engagements with the community, and will act as a launching pad for an impactful initiative inspiring an insightful look at the community, executed by the community.

Resource and Job Fair
Scope: East Harlem
Budget: $40,000
Through both the community needs assessment, and decades of working as a unified collective in East Harlem, HSCEH has made hundreds of connections with organizations, businesses, and people who consistently strive to make East Harlem a more equitable space. This project will tap into that reservoir of connections to ultimately host a space where all of East Harlem is invited to learn, and ultimately benefit from resources that are available to everyone. This will include employment opportunities for attendees as potential employers will be invited to join and encourage applications.
