Life Prep for High School Students 101
This project will use hands-on vocational training, mentoring, and wraparound services to equip high school students with essential skills for personal and professional development.
The project will serve Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights youth and be delivered at Neighbors in Action's Central Brooklyn offices through workshops, hands-on activities, and mentorship sessions. The project will include vocational training and provide wraparound services such as career coaching, academic tutoring, and mental health support.
Neighbors in Action has a longstanding commitment to youth development and community empowerment in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights. The vocational training component was inspired by direct feedback from our community of young people. Our strengths lie in delivering responsive, community-based services.
This project will address youth disengagement, unemployment, and limited career opportunities. Offering vocational training, life skills, and mentorship, it will provide youth with tools to build stable, successful futures. It will also foster agency and community ownership, which are critical for long-term community resilience and safety.
We are excited to see participants gain confidence, secure internships, and step into career paths that once felt out of reach as they become empowered individuals with clear goals and skills. The project will create lasting change not just for individuals but for the entire community, fostering resilience and future leaders in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
