- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- Children that live in public housing face a lot of restriction in expressing themselves. For example, jumping, running, being active. This can lead to children express themselves in school more which can be seen as a negative behavior; especially for children who are extra energetic. With many limitations on their self-expression they won't feel safe or supported.
- Describe your idea and approach to address the challenge:
- Partner with high schools with swimming pools to offer free swimming classes to youth living in public housing. Swimming is an important skill to have and with it being held in a high school it is indoors and can be offered more flexible.
