- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- "It sometimes feels like there are inadequate translation resources for non-native English speakers (or at least the resources are not accessible enough). "
- Describe your idea and approach to address the challenge:
- "Our idea was to fund trainings/workshops where individuals can learn how to be a translator/interpreter. There are so many individuals in this city who speak multiple languages, but might not know that they can apply those skills in an employment setting. So, these workshops would not only provide multilingual individuals with employment opportunities, but would increase the number of translators in the community. We know there are some organizations (like Language Line) that connect individuals to interpreters over the phone, so the money could go towards expanding the number of trainings they offer in addition to providing more on-the-ground translators/translation services."
