CEC Citywide Participatory Budgeting Program Information
2022-2023
The first phase of the participatory budgeting process, Idea Generation, is planned to run from mid-August until the end of October. Idea Generation, a central tenant of participatory budgeting, focuses on deliberation and community dialogue. In this phase, residents will come together to share needs and priorities, and collectively brainstorm solutions to community issues. The end result of this process will lead to the formulation of projects that will be placed on a ballot for all residents of New York City to vote on. To help us kick off this historic initiative, we are seeking to fund a broad and inclusive array of applicants across the city to recruit, engage, host, facilitate, educate, and welcome New Yorkers into these conversations.
Applicants including, but not limited to, community-based organizations, faith-based communities, school clubs, community boards, and M/WBEs are all eligible and encouraged to apply. In order to make the process as transparent and open as possible, the CEC will be offering a public feedback session on the proposed Request for Information (RFI) application on June 6, 2022 at 4:00pm. Attendance at this session will in no way affect consideration for being awarded funding. This RFI is only for the Idea Collection phase of the process from Aug 15 through October 31 and will be officially open for applicants on June 15th!
